Intravenous Immune Globulin (IVIG or IGIV) is a sterile
solution of concentrated antibodies extracted from healthy donors which
is administered into a vein. IVIG infusion therapy is used to treat disorders of the immune system, such as ITP (Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura) and PID (Primary Immune Deficiency disorders), disorders of the neurological system, such as CIDP (Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy) or to boost immune response to serious illness, and to treat immunosuppressed recipients of bone marrow transplants.
