Vaccines - Rabies
Rabies is an often deadly viral infection that is mainly spread by infected animals.  Rabies is spread by infected saliva that enters the body through a bite or broken skin.  The virus travels from the wound to the brain, where it causes swelling, or inflammation.  This inflammation leads to symptoms of the disease. 

Once a person begins showing signs and symptoms of rabies, the disease is nearly always fatal.  For that reason, vaccines to stop the rabies virus from infecting the body are commonly given to anyone who may have a risk of contracting rabies.
